TATA Steel recently announced that it will expand annual crude steel capacity of Kalinganagar plant up to 8 million tons, only 3 million tons at present. This project was expected to take 4 years and will be completed by end of 2020.
TATA Steel planned to invest about 235 billion rupees to improve capacity in upstream, midstream and downstream plants, infrastructure, and cold rolling mills. Through capacity expansion projects, the group''s annual capacity of crude steel in India will reach at around 24 million tons, including 10 million tons of Jamshedpur plant, 3 million tons of Kalinganagar plant and 5 million tons of Bhushan plant.
Besides, TATA Steel owned Joda mine and Khondbond mine in Odisha, which had close relationship with local steel industries.
