According to statistics from the World Steel Association (worldsteel), the demand for finished steel in India was expected to grow by 5% to 102 million tons in 2019. The growth in steel production was supported by fast-growing steel demand.
India was poised to surpass the US to become the world''s second-largest steel consumer this year.
In 2020, India''s demand growth should reach 7% to 109 million tons, compared with China''s demand growth of 1%, and the US'' demand only grew by 0.4%.
JSW Steel said this week various government measures were expected to support increased Indian gross fixed capital formation.
